Let´s talk
We know how challenging it might seem to bring an idea to life. Don’t worry, we got you!
How we do it?

Our process

We are flexible! We know how to adapt to different project’s time and cost needs.

Discovery

Through our standardized processes and use of No-Code tools we can quickly validate hypotheses and get to the first version of a digital product optimizing resources so we don’t waste anybody’s time or money.

Iteration is key!

Start small, grow into big things, never stop delivering value. Under an agile mindset, we work with the scrum framework that allows us to work iteratively to quickly deliver value to our customers and users. This allows us to receive feedback, validate and keep users close at all times.

Collaboration
above all things

We don’t win clients, we team up with partners, your goal will become our goal.

What makes a social network app successful?

Most social networks, and especially the most successful ones, seek to solve a communication problem. Check out the key tips to develop a successful social app.

I want to build an app like Facebook, how should I start?

Building Facebook is not something you can accomplish overnight. The journey is long but… here are 4 key clear steps where to begin, shared by our team specialized in social products.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Typically, creating a social network involves a 2-month discovery phase, a 3-month MVP development, and a final 3-month period for adding additional features before launching. This results in a total time frame of 6 to 9 months from start to market launch. However, the exact duration may vary from project to project.

  • User acquisition is crucial in social networks, and that’s why it’s important to consider it from the very beginning of the project.

At Amalgama, we assign a marketer to work closely with the development team to plan and execute a marketing strategy to attract users to the app.

Throughout the development stage, we also install analytics to monitor user behavior once the app is launched.

After the development is complete and the app is in the market, we assist our clients in creating and implementing a marketing plan to drive user acquisition.

  • After launching a product, there are three common options for continuing its development:

    A. Continuously adding new features and refining existing ones. This typically involves assigning a new or smaller development team to continue working on the project.

    B. Handing over the project to the client’s internal team. Some clients prefer to have control over development after the initial launch, in which case the project is transferred to a new team within the client’s organisation. We may assist with the selection process for this team.

    C. Pausing development and only adding new features or updates as requested. This is often the case for clients who prioritise user acquisition after launch and only require specific new features at a later stage.

  • The cost or servers varies depending on the number of users that are regularly connected to the app as well as the resource demand each of the users does of the project. It is not the same server usage a social network like Twitter does than a social network like Tik Tok.

To dimension the servers and estimate the cost, we ran Stress Tests where we simulate the use of the app by a large amount of users and see how servers scale and respond.

Usually for social networks on an initial stage, the server costs go from USD 50 to USD 1,000 per month.

  • We utilise two technology approaches for developing social networks: code-based and no/low-code tools.

For code-based development, we prefer using React Native for mobile apps and ReactJS for web-based frontend, with Ruby on Rails for the backend. This approach is suitable for apps that need to handle large numbers of users, such as thousands or millions.

For no/low-code development, we primarily use tools such as Bubble. This approach is used for apps aimed at a smaller, specific audience that doesn’t require significant scaling capabilities.
