UX: The Key to Unlocking the Full Potential of Your NFTs

By Octavio Muñoz, in collaboration with our Web3 Team at Amalgama

Nowadays, users have become increasingly tech-savvy and demanding when it comes to user experience (UX) in any online platform, and NFTs are no exception.

For any digital platform, it is crucial to have a well-designed UX that allows to enhance user adoption, engagement and trust. While many NFT teams fail to achieve a well-designed UX/UI, the industry suffers because users who have a poor experience exploring the platform will not engage with it and not only that, but they will also be pessimistic about trying other platforms on this topic. This could bring significant consequences on the product you are building as well as on the industry.

As most people are aware, the NFT universe is constantly evolving, and to help boost the industry we need to prioritize user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.

One may wonder how can we make a well-designed UX/UI NFTs platform. Below we can explore some important aspects to consider.

  • In first place, the platform should be accessible for newcomers. NFT is a new concept and in order to expand audience, we have to focus on making the platform easy to understand and use so as to enhance user adoption.
  • In line with the previous item, users generally get lost or confused when creating an account or doing a transaction. For the NFT industry to exist we need the underlying technology, blockchain, and we also need a way to define the terms of ownership and usage right for the digital asset in consideration, known as smart contracts. Both concepts are key for the NFT to exist, but they can also be complex and intimidating for users. A well-designed UX/UI will help users to engage and come back to the platform, by preventing them to feel overwhelmed or confused, increasing the user activity and therefore improving and expanding the community.
  • As NFTs are still in its early stages and creators tend to focus more on the technical aspect of creating and deploying a non-fungible token, the need of strong UX/UI skills increases every day. Web2 had a massive adoption but only a small portion of users knew what was the underlying technology or what was happening while navigating. In web3, we still can’t avoid using a technical language and nowadays we focus more on the technology and what is going beneath everything instead of focusing on benefits and utility of the platform we are building, which makes the massive user adoption really hard to happen.
  • Lastly but not least, there is a common lack of trust and reputation from newcomers, having a professional-looking platform can help build confidence with users and become trustworthy. NFTs industry is built on authenticity and provenance, that is why trust is important for both creators and collectors.

Long story short, UX/UI design is a key factor in building a fruitful NFT platform.
